Sawant started her career as a cabaret dancer. She dated Abhishek Awasthi with whom she participated in Nach baliye 3. After the couple lost the contest in 2007, they filed a suit against Star plus accusing the channel of tampering with the audience voting system.When Sawant appeared in Season 1 of Bigboss he wanted her sister Jaya Sawant to move out of the flat they share. In the first week of March, Jaya moved in with her son Rakesh at his MHADA flat.
Sawant, who lived in Serenity Complex (Oshiwara) in a two-bedroom flat with her mother and ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi, has purchased a three-bedroom flat in the same complex where she wanted to live with Abhishek.
