So if you think that acne is your only problem, think again, your liver, kidneys, and bowels are getting weaker every time you breakout.

Make-Up Tips

Have a too blue based lipstick? Mix a dot of yellow concealer into your lipstick, or apply a yellow-based loose powder on clean lips, and apply lipstick on top. There will be just enough warmth in the product to take the edge off a too cool/blue shade.

Want to update your lipsticks to the new cool blue based tones? Apply a navy blue eye pencil, or eye shadow on lips and apply your lipstick on top....just a little will do and you'll have a new shade. A soft, brown eye shadow applied on lips first will darken any too light shade.

Make your own deep lipstick color by mixing blue eye shadow and red blush on your lips. Apply a lip balm on top and you're set. The most fun part is that every time you try this, you can experiment and get a different version every time.

Use your shimmer highlighter sticks from spring/summer to highlight lipsticks. Apply on a clean mouth first, and then your dull lipstick on top. An instant frosted shade.

The color of the moment is the 'bitten' lip look. Just take your rosy blush and apply dry on lips. Apply your Vitamin E stick, or gloss on top with a lip blush. Gel cheek colors work great for this too.

A quick dusting of shimmering body powder or an iridescent eye shadow over the high points of the face, (cheekbones, chin, top of nose, eyelids, across forehead..) a quick day to night look.

A model told me this trick! She runs a Gold Shimmer stick through her blonde hair! Instant shimmer and highlights, especially around the face....

Use a Concealer Pencil on your lips first, fill in, and then apply an old, dark lipstick. The concealer pencil lightens up the lipstick by about 3-4 shades....

A warm brick eyeshadow is the perfect all over color for lips, cheeks, eyes and a little lip gloss on top and you'reoff!

Find a blush brush that perfectly fits the size of the apple of your cheek when you smile. Anything bigger than that and you'll get blush where you don't want it. You really don't need a huge blush brush for color, those are meant for shimmery powders.........

Pick up your blush by lightly tapping the blush with the tips of the bristles. If you are sweeping the brush across the color, you'll pick up about 10 x more color than you need, and you waste a lot of product. Just tap the ends of the bristles about 2-3 times onto the color. Shake off any excess. You should barely be able to see the color onthe brush. Don't worry, you do have enough on!

When applying blush, don't "sweep" or "stroke" the color across the cheeks. You'll usually end up streaking the color on, and then having to go back to 'correct' and 'blend'. Instead, smile, and tap on gently going across your cheeks. By tapping the color onto the brush, and then tapping in onto the cheeks........ you'll avoid excess color, streaking and more. Tapping on blends the color for you and you can always add more if you want.

Always swipe your blush brush across a Kleenex to clean off any excess, or pick up your powder brush (with no extra powder on) and sweep over and blend your blush into your skin. You'llget a softer, more 'real' look to your blush.

OOPS! Okay, you look like a clown, wrong color,too much........now what? Easy! With a clean dry beauty sponge, pick up a light layer of loose powder and 'erase' as much off as possible. Too bright or too dark? Take a slightly dampened sponge and clean off as much as you can. The water will pick up and'dilute' the color.........it just may be enough to fix it and look ok!

List all your assets (not just physical). Then realize all the good in being you. Move on to other things around you. Work on this consciously every day till it becomes a habit. There is something good about everything and everyone. Once you realize this you will be finding good everywhere without even trying.

9. Learn... something new every day. Pick up a book. or search online. Learn to do something you have always wanted to do. You can even start for free by researching online. Search the subject and start stimulating and enriching your mind today.

10. Reward yourself. Set financial and personal goals and tag them with rewards for accomplishing them. (this one may be something special you have always wanted to do. and not necessarily a purchase.. But if you have done all the above maybe go ahead and splurge a little. You deserve it!

High Street Folksy Garments

These are my favourite folksy garments from online and high street retailers for Autumn 2008. Visually, the dresses have all the Folk Boho pattern elements that capture this combination of the latest flirtation with eclectic ethnic.

Observe, the paisley feather form motifs, also the hearts, ogees, teardrops and overblown colourful flowers, often roses. Moreover, admire small, medium and large repeat motifs. Arrangements such as this mostly use border printed fabric which can be manipulated to bring pattern into an area of main focus, such as sleeves into cuffs, hemline and waistlines. Patterns flow and meander into each other making this a very feminine girl to woman look.

Leopard Print Dresses

Maxi dresses have been such a hit in summer 2008 that there is a strong trend in the autumn for the return of full length evening glamour. But, a more viable alternative for many women is a short evening or cocktail dress and furthermore, the glamour is doubled if it is made in leopard print fabric.

Animal Footwear Autumn Trends 2008/9

Now we are just as excited by animal print court shoes, with their statement heels of literally staggering stature. But be sure to pack those folding flats since the heel height of many autumnal styles is vertiqinous.

Leopard Print Handbags

Here we have two similar styles of leopard/cheetah hand bags, but two very different price ranges, so look to save or to splash.

Winter White Cream, Taupe & Cocoa Mood Board

The classic fashion mood board for winter features light shades of tangerine orange and crushed brown sugars. What you also get is a warm earthy palette that soon meets cappuccino, taupes and pink based cocoa. As winter is the coldest season, these colours often are so watered down and pastel they become a tint of winter white.



Those same taupe and cocoa pink tones develop sorbet like tints when white is added to them; the resulting soft dusty hues are pretty and gently feminine.

Nautical Accessories - Skirts and Wedges

One simple but stylish look is a tunic style shift dress, teamed with colourful tights or dressed down when worn over jeans this is a versatile choice for any occasion. Who would not feel oh so girly in this delicate wisp of a dress?

Kimono Sleeve Dresses & Tunic Kaftans

Dropped shoulder 1980s style tops, and kimono sleeve Kaftans create silhouette tunics with relaxed looks perfect for casual and comfortable relaxed summer wear. Kaftan tops are ideal with jeans, shorts or other trousers, or on the beach as cover up wear.
These short dresses use intense colour mixes, magnificent border prints to create dresses with exotic flair and mystery.
The wide kimono sleeve left is important to note as follow-on styles will be led by this look.

Kimono and loose easy Kaftan styles also feature strongly in maxi dress silhouettes. These maxi dresses are both empire line in silhouette, and follow the tiered styles set last year by Dolce and Gabbana. These examples illustrate the designer version at Gucci or the high street low cost credit crunch version from Primark. The full sleeves signal new shapes to come.

Beware, not all will be the genuine Swarovski article. Make sure your crystal tiara for your special day is made from Swarovski crystal for extra sparkle. There is a wide range of tiaras available, alternatively you can commission a one of kind design from an independent designer.
Marilyn Jones of Pearls Plus makes handcrafted jewellery, bridal hair ornaments, combs and decorated hair pins using freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystal. This dainty bridal tiara is one of her Pearls Plus designs using Swarovski crystal.

Jardin d'Extrême - Orient

It's not difficult to see how in the Orient Jardin d'Extreme Collection, Van Cleef & Arpels have captured and replicated existing elements such as trees to give a very definite impression of imagery easily related to Bonsai.

In the luxury Serenité earrings above left, designers have reproduced the pure lines of the dry oriental gardens within the flowing curves of diamonds. These lines are studded with fascinating cabochon star sapphires, imitating smooth boulders. A few marquise-cut emeralds represent the leaves of the maple, a highly symbolic tree in Japanese gardens.
Beside the earrings, the Nuit d'Orient ring features a magnificent black opal (22.96 carats). The ring has aquatic highlights which are enhanced by the mounting which represents the pools, cascades and bridges of peaceful Oriental gardens.
